HUGE PANTHOOTS TO RICHARD!

Richard is now two thirds through his whopping 2,500km walk across Australia and has even clocked in 65kms in JUST ONE DAY! All to raise money to construct wells for villages without access to clean and safe water where our project works in Hoima District - what a hero!!
The water boreholes will also help alleviate human-chimpanzee conflict, because villagers (normally women and children) currently encounter chimpanzees when they collect water at forest streams on a daily basis. These encounters can be dangerous for both people and chimps.

An open water collection point in Bulemwa village. A new borehole will provide up to a 1000 villagers with clean safe water -- and without the added risk of bumping into chimps!
A young male chimp of the Wagaisa community. The Wagaisa chimps regularly use a small forest strip along a stream in Bulemwa village.
Villagers come into contact daily with the chimps when collecting water from the stream. Funds raised by Richard will enable us to construct a borehole in Bulemwa village, away from the forest, which should reduce encounters between the chimps and people.

A new borehole (made possible by Richard's fund raising walk) will provide up to a 1000 villagers with clean safe water -- and without the added risk of bumping into the chimps!
